SEA’s First Gaming and Esports Awards Show to Be Held This Weekend


Come Saturday, some of Southeast Asia’s most deserving gaming content creators and esports athletes will be named the first-ever recipients of the SuperGamerFest (SGF) Awards 2020.

Held in conjunction with the ongoing festival, the awards show aims to not only celebrate but also acknowledge the achievements of the most well-known gamers in the region.

The shortlisted nominees, who were revealed on PVP Esports’ Facebook page recently, were chosen after a month of fan nominations and a rigorous judging process that included a quantitative analysis of all nominees.

To be held this Saturday (December 12), the awards show will feature special guest performers SGAG – Singapore’s homegrown comedy platform, Australian YouTuber Wendy ‘Wengie’ Huang and additional special appearances from some surprising guests from the world of sports and entertainment.

This year’s inaugural awards ceremony will be broken into several categories, including Esports Coach of the Year, Esports Performance of the Year, Esports Pro Player of the Year, Esports Team of the Year, Social Media Star of the Year, Streamer of the Year, and VOD Creator of the Year.

The esports Coach of the year is recognized for their leadership, strategic excellence and ability to guide their teams to exceptional performance in-game, while guiding their team’s professionalism outside the arena.

The esports Performance of the Year highlights a year of outstanding performances by a team or player, or a single defining moment that may have shocked or inspired the entire esports ecosystem in a country.

The esports Pro Player of the year is recognized for their consistent and outstanding performance, conduct and overall impact on the esports team in their country.

The esports Team of the year is chosen for their consistent and outstanding performance, proving their championship mettle in-game, while positively impacting the esports ecosystem in their country.

The Social Media star of the year will be selected on the basis of their overall audience, audience growth, content quality, content relevance, top posts/stores and overall creativity in their content.

The Streamer of the year will be selected on the basis of their overall audience, audience growth, content quality, content relevance, best moments and overall impact on the Streaming ecosystem in their country.

The VOD Creator of the year will be selected on the basis of their overall audience, audience growth, content quality, content relevance, top videos and overall creativity making sure that they have a positive overall impact on the gaming ecosystem in their country.
