G2 Esports Vs Damwon Gaming Will Surely Show Us The Overall Winner Of Worlds

Since day one of the League of Legends World Championship 2020 the talk has been around which of the top Chinese teams will win the competition, with back to back wins for the region in 2018 and 2019, and the home turf advantage they are surely the favourites. But now with just three matches left to play in the competition, it seems that the winner of the G2 vs Damwon Gaming semi-final matchup will head into the final as the team to beat.

The G2 vs Damwon matchup, which takes place this morning, is the first semi-final to be played at Worlds 2020 and features the top team from Europe facing off against the top team from Korea. Along with China, these two regions are considered the best in the world, so the action will no doubt be incredible when they hit the rift.

The other semi-final between Chinese teams Top Esports and Suning will surely be great as well, and the winner will no doubt feel like they have a shot at the Summoner’s Cup next weekend, but really based on recent performances it is hard to look past either G2 or Damwon when it comes to the next world champion.

Looking at G2, while they did go 1-1 with Suning in the group stage and comically lost a game to Team Liquid, since then they destroyed Gen.G, another Korean team, in the quarter-finals with a 3-0 scoreline and one of the most one-sided games we have seen at Worlds. The European side has experience of being in the final of Worlds, losing last year to Fun Plus Phoenix, and has looked even stronger this year. If they can make it past Damwon they will be looking for revenge against whichever Chinese team makes it to the final.

Damwon on the other hand entered the tournament as one of the favourites to win it and have not disappointed. Throughout all of Worlds, the top seed from Korea has only dropped one map, which was to JD Gaming in the group stage, and show no signs of slowing down. G2 will undoubtedly be the biggest challenge the Koreans have faced yet, but if they can make it past the European giants they too will be favourites to take the Worlds crown.

That’s not to say that both Top Esports and Suning have no chance in the final, with the home-field advantage and the small crowd no doubt cheering them on they will have the atmospheric advantage, but based on what we have seen so far both G2 and Damwon are on fire, and you would not want to be against them at all.

With the G2 Esports vs Damwon Gaming match about to start you do not want to miss the action, so strap in and get ready to watch the semi-final matchup. This should be one of the best matches of Worlds so far, so be prepared to be thoroughly entertained.
