Esports organization 100 Thieves will open its headquarters in Los Angeles as an official LA County Voting Center, according to an announcement in the Verge on Thursday, following other major sports arenas and representing another recent example of gaming intersecting with the upcoming election.
The company will open its doors to early voting starting October 30 and will be a spot to cast a ballot in LA County through election day on November 3.
Officially opening in 2020, the 100 Thieves Cash App Compound is a 15,000-square-foot hub for the esports company, which serves as a production studio for its streaming content creators, a practice space for its competitive teams and an office for its apparel designers and even a retail shop.
The esports club joins neighboring sports franchise the Los Angeles Lakers, which pushed its home arena, the Staples Center, to open for general election voting.
Founded and led by former Call of Duty pro Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, 100 Thieves is one of the fastest-growing brands in esports and earned investments from Grammy-winning musician Drake as well as billionaire Dan Gilbert.
“Ever since we put down roots in this pocket of Los Angeles with the opening of the 100 Thieves Cash App Compound at the beginning of the year, we’ve been looking for ways to give back to the community,” Haag told the Verge.
100 Thieves joins other recent gaming-centric efforts to boost participation in voting. On Tuesday, U.S. House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) debuted her Twitch channel with a stream that featured popular personalities like Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Ali “Myth” Kabbani and Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo. Playing the recent indie hit Among Us, her stream jettisoned into the top five most watched streams, hitting a concurrent viewership figure of 435,000 and a total views of 5.2 million.
$160 million. That’s the estimated valuation of 100 Thieves, according to a 2019 estimate by Forbes. A team that rose to prominence soon after its introduction, its revenue for last year is pegged at $10 million.
