Flashpoint Season 2 has wrapped up the group stage portion, and now the eight remaining teams prepare for the upper bracket quarterfinals. All of the favorites from the Flashpoint Season 2 opening odds have qualified for the playoffs. The only real upset was Dignitas advancing to the round of 8 and Cloud9 falling well short.

The Rising MAD Lions

The first quarterfinal matchup is the only one featuring two teams that didn’t win their group. That doesn’t mean that these teams should be slept on. They’re just not going to be favored as the tournament continues to progress. For the MAD Lions, Flashpoint Season 2 has already been rather successful.

This is a team that won the first season of Flashpoint, but this time around the field is much tougher. Despite stiffer opposition, MAD Lions have opened with wins over Dignitas and Fnatic. They had a shot at winning the group but were unable to take down Fnatic for a second time.

This is a team that is seemingly on the rise. Their opening match is against Virtus.pro who finished second in their group just like the MAD Lions did. Virtus.pro also had a fairly easy road to the playoffs, where they only had to defeat Gen.G and a Cloud9 team debuting their new roster.

It’s tough to gauge how strong Virtus.pro is entering their match against the MAD Lions, but given the odds, the underdog is definitely worth a look here. Amongst the upper bracket quarterfinals, there aren’t too many openings for upsets. MAD Lions might be the best opportunity for some value.
