The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers met the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Knights in a non-conference volleyball contest in Blue Earth on Tuesday, Oct. 19.

LCWM won the first game 25-14 before the Bucs rebounded with a 25-23 win in the second game.

Unfortunately, BEA could not sustain their momentum and the Knights took game three 25-18 to go up two games to one.

LCWM closed out the contest with a 25-13 victory in the fourth game to win the match 3-1.

Eloise Blair, relegated to back-line play because of her shoulder injury, led the defense with 18 digs. Kate Armon finished with 13 digs and Liz Beeler had 12.

Haley Kalis and Beeler were the leading setters for the team. Kalis had 11 and Beeler had eight.

Alicia Machacek led the team at the net with eight kills and one ace block. Brita Hougen tallied six kills and one ace block and Hailey Becker had five kills and two ace blocks.

Beeler was the leading server with seven points and two aces on 11-for-13 serving. Hougen was a perfect 11-for-11 serves with one ace and five points.

Taylor Klabunde was good on all 13 of her serves and finished with five points.

Becker had three points on 10-for-11 serving.

Blue Earth Area begins Sub-section Tournament play on Thursday, Oct. 28, when they travel to Waterville to take on the Buccaneers of Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, who is the No. 1 seed.
