The current and next generational gaming services will depend mostly on cloud databases. Companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google are all in the race together. With the turn of the decade, we have seen how well equipped and easy these are. This ensures that your game data is kept intact, and it not only allows early access but also discounts with specific games.
However, not everyone will have the luxury to enjoy this revolutionary paradigm shift. In fact, platforms like xCloud will not function in IOS. This means Apple users will not be able to acquire any influence over Google and Microsoft. This doesn’t come as a big shock to us as all three of these companies are competitors.
While the next generation of gaming will depend a lot on the consoles, similarly, it will hark upon mobiles to lead the way. For android, it won’t be an issue at all, but we also have to remember the quality of gaming. Quality is always best on an iPhone, and this time they won’t get any cloud service.
Apple announces its retraction from different cloud services
As it is reported by The Verve, an official statement from Apple was given to the Business Insider.
“The App Store was created to be a safe and trusted place for customers to discover and download apps. And a great business opportunity for all developers. Before they go on our store, all apps are reviewed against the same set of guidelines that are intended to protect customers and provide a fair and level playing field to developers.”
It is quite clear with these words that nothing comes above business for these companies. xCloud is perhaps going to be one of the pillars of future gaming. Missing out on such a service for mobile would be a shame.
Are there any loopholes? Will they work?
One of the loopholes which The Verve mention are, “For instance, the Shadow cloud gaming service gives you access to a remote computer “host device” that is not technically owned by the user, but rented from the company itself.” However, the consequence of such an action might be too much.
According to Verve, “Well, for now, iOS users are going to be missing out on the mobile-centric cloud gaming wave that’s set to arrive with xCloud’s launch. There is conceivably a way Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia could find ways around this by changing the core functionality of their respective apps.”
Now let us consider the scenario where the best mobile device doesn’t have the best games? How long is it going to stick? Most importantly, what these companies focus on is, how much is it going to take! Nevertheless, we have to agree with what the experts say. This barrier and any attempt to navigate cross-platform would take a long time.
