The next three expansions for World of Warcraft were announced at BlizzCon today, starting with The War Within, the first part of the Worldsoul Saga.
We are treated with an epic first trailer featuring Anduin and Thrall discussing the next narrative arc Blizzard developers have for us. Based on what we see and hear, we are heading within Azeroth to find out what damanage Sargeras caused when stabbing Azeroth.
The War Within Expansion Features
We start our journey oin Khaz Algar, home of the Earthen (Allied Race) and the entry point into the expansion.
From there we head underground toward the Harbinger of the Void through four new zones. The main four zones are: Isle of Dorn, The Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall, Azj-Kahet and eight new dungeons to explore. Nerubar Palace is the main raid for the expansion and is based on the Nerubian race and their units.
The main story narrative should also revolve around what damage Sargeras did to Azeroth, and how it changed the balance of power on top of and below Azeroth.
New Features in The War Within
Blizzard developers really stressed that they want to move WoW into a more evergreen direction, and add new features that will continue onto new expansions. To this end they are making several changes to talent systems, flying and PvE play across multiple characters.
Delves, Warbands and Hero Talents
- Delves will be a new treasure seeking outdoor experience with 13 new instances that you can play solo or with friends, in order to earn seasonal loot and a weekly vault chest.
- Warbands are aimed to finally tie all your characters and achievements on your Battle.net account. This feature is aimed at helping you optimize and gear multiple alts and share content across them. Additionally, all reputations will be shared across all characters.
- Hero talents are a new evergreen feature, adding depth into how you build your characters and talent pools. Each class will get three Hero Talents on top of their two main primary specializations akin to the Legion talent tree.
Additional new features and story arcs are scheduled to be discussed tomorrow at BlizzCon. We will update all the info once we find out more.
