Riot Designer TheTruexy shared on his personal Twitter important fighter item changes that will be on the League PBE. While tuning is yet to be defined, he also mentions the goals and reasons behind these tentative changes.

Fighter item changes will be available on League PBE

There is a total of eight items set to receive changes, which you can find here below:

  • Eclipse
  • Syzygy (Ornn upgrade of Eclipse)
  • Goredrinker
  • Ravenous Hydra
  • Maw of Malmortius
  • Death’s Dance
  • Blade of the Ruined King
  • Black Cleaver

The main goal the Riot designer mentions are tackling the ‘fighter frustation’. The class has been hard to deal with recently, having great damage, sustain and mobility.

The planned changes want to deal with this issue, starting off from sustain. The balance team is moving Omnivamp over to Lifesteal and compensating if needed, explaining how sustain on spells leads to spikey healing compared to sustain on auto attacks (which scales linearly and only spikes with crit strikes).

Ability haste is also getting nerfed. According to TheTruexy, having too much of this stat closes the windows of counterplay against fighters and they will lower it across the board. For the same reason, they are looking to nerf Death Dance and Maw of Malmortius to make them less of “all-in-one” items.

To make a trade-off for these nerfs, Riot is increasing the damage gained with these items. While it will make champions deal more damage, they think that “slowing down Omnivamp snowballing and the ability to get faster spikes is a good direction.”

Knowing that these items will have a major impact on the bruiser class, they will look to adjust weaker champions or the ones that lose out the most with the reduced ability haste or sustain.
