World Champion Mid Laner Zeka Becomes the LCK Player of the Year at the 2022 LCK Awards

LCK just held its annual award where they celebrate the individual excellence of players throughout the 2022 season.

With the LCK season and Worlds 2022 over, LCK organized their end-of-the-year award show to recognize and reward the players who performed the best in the year 2022. Most of these awards are the usual ones like the MVP, Rookie of the Year and All-Pro teams, but there were some interesting ones such as Best OP.GG score and Meme of the Year as well.

But before players, LCK first gave recognition to one of their biggest community figures, Jeon “Caster Jun” Yong-jun. Caster Jun is arguably the most significant play-by-play caster and host in the Korean League of Legends scene, and he was awarded the LCK 10-Year Anniversary Achievement Award for his contributions to the esport over the years. Jun said he felt grateful to be able to celebrate his 40s in such a way, and that he hoped he could keep doing it into his 60s as well.

An unexpected winner at the LCK Awards was the LCS organization FlyQuest. The organization just announced that they signed with Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang and Lee “Prince” Chae-hwan, who won Rookie of the Year and Player of the Spring Split, respectively. The biggest award of the night, Player of the Year went to the former DRX mid laner and World Champion Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo. Zeka was the breakout star in Worlds 2022. But some fans still had reservations about the choice, as he wasn’t perceived as the best performing player in neither Spring nor Summer.
