How to Claim Free Fortnite Winterfest Skins on Console

Every year, everyone looks forward to what the Fortnite Winterfest skins will bring to the table. Fortnite is one of the only games that regularly rewards its fans with a ton of new skins and Winterfest is no different. Whether it’s hero skins, weapons or gliders, there’s something new every day.

Fortnite is also one of the only games where players can cross play across consoles. Players can play in the same Royale on PC, Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles but it seems they’re not all created equal.

What are Fortnite Winterfest Skins? – Christmas Come Early

There are a lot of reasons to keep coming back to Fortnite every day at the moment. Winterfest is well underway. The Reboot Rally is ongoing. Daily quests are always a thing. Every day for 12 days in December through to the beginning of January, check in to open a new present!

They vary in size and you don’t even have to open them in the same order as everyone else. You’ll be able to add a number of Christmas themed gliders to your Locker and have the perfect set. It goes without saying that they won’t make any difference to your game play, but they’ll certainly add a little festive cheer when you’re slaughtering opponents with the brand new Chapter 4 weapons.

Fortnite Winterfest presents available in the Lodge

Free Fortnite Winterfest Skins in the Store

Not only can fans open a daily present but there’s a special free skin available in the store…for PC players. It’s not the first time that Fortnite has prioritized PC gamers over other consoles, but that doesn’t make it sting any less.

The skin, Gruff Gringle, may look like a cute little Santa, but he’s not to be jingled with. You wouldn’t want to come face to face with him in a Battle Royale! Pairing him with the rest of your Winterfest skins means you’ll have the perfect Christmas skin set to try out with the best new weapons in chapter 4.

How to claim on PC – simple steps

  1. Launch the game and head straight into the Item Store.
  2. Scroll all the way down to the bottom.
  3. Select Gruff Gringle
  4. Add him to your Locker.

It couldn’t really be easier, could it? You may have to dig a little through all of the skins available in the store but you can find Gruff Gringle in the Tis the Season section. While PC fans may be really happy with their new skin, console players have been a little less happy. They can still claim the free skin, but it’s a little easier said than done.

How to claim on console – not so simple steps

  1. Download a free copy of GeForce Now. You’ll only be able to use it for an hour for free, but that’s plenty of time.
  2. Connect your console to a PC using GeForce Now. This will bring the PC shop to your console.
  3. Follow the same steps through the Item Store.
  4. Enjoy your free skin!

All of the Fortnite Winterfest skins can be enjoyed until January 3rd 2023. The skins won’t disappear though, you can keep feeling Christmassy all the way into August if you want. While you could log in on January 2nd and claim everything in one go, it’s nice to have this little advent calendar in the run up to Christmas.
