Is Cloud Gaming The Future?

With cloud gaming, you don’t need to invest in expensive hardware to play your favourite games. It enables you to stream games like you stream videos and web series online.

Isn’t it exciting? It is, indeed.

However, does it mean cloud-gaming is going to be the future of the gaming industry?

What is Cloud Gaming exactly?

Cloud-gaming is a $1.57-billion market. But, it is expected to grow immensely in the coming years. It is expected to be a $21-billion industry by 2030.

Cloud-gaming is a technology that enables gamers to access a network connection on their devices – computer or mobile – from a game client on a server.

But, cloud-gaming is more than just about streaming content on Disney+ and YouTube, or getting an online experience of Betway casino games. There are many cloud-gaming services that harness the technology to provide gamers with customised low-latency data for their gaming sessions.

The entire structure of cloud-gaming can be categorised into three levels:

  1. Compute Endpoint: It is a device that a gamer uses to access a portal or a game.
  2. Frontend: It is a dedicated game server that hosts the game and provides services to gamers.
  3. Backend: It is the database that manages game records.

How is Cloud Gaming different from Traditional Gaming?

Cloud gaming is a type of online gaming that uses remote servers to process game data and streams the gameplay to the user. It allows users to play games without the need to download or install them on their devices.

Traditional gaming, on the other hand, involves the installation of games on local devices such as personal computers, gaming consoles, or mobile devices. Users play these games offline or online, but the data is processed on the device itself.

There are several differences between cloud gaming and traditional gaming. One major difference is that cloud gaming requires a stable internet connection, while traditional gaming does not. This is because all the game data is processed on remote servers, and not on the user’s device.

Also, cloud gaming is subscription-based, while traditional gaming is not. This means that users need to pay a monthly fee to access cloud gaming services. Traditional gaming, on the other hand, allows users to purchase games outright.

Apart from that, cloud gaming is more flexible. This means that users can access their games from any device, as long as they have an internet connection. Traditional gaming, on the other hand, is limited to the devices on which the games are installed.

What is the future of Cloud Gaming?

The future of cloud gaming is very exciting. There are many new and innovative services being developed that will make cloud gaming even better. For example, Google Stadia is a new cloud gaming service that allows gamers to play their favourite games on any screen, including TVs, laptops, and smartphones.

Other companies are also working on new cloud gaming technologies. For example, Microsoft is working on a service called xCloud that will allow gamers to play their Xbox games on any device, including smartphones and tablets.

The future of cloud gaming is very exciting and there are many new and innovative services being developed that will make it even better.
