PMPL SEA Championship Fall 2022: The story so far

The PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) SEA Championship has been divided into the league stage and the grand finals. The league stage happened over three weeks between Sept. 28 to Oct. 16.

Domination of Thai teams in the PMPL continued throughout all three weeks of the league stage. So much so that out of all the teams in the top seven, except for Indonesia’s Alter Ego LIMAX, are from Thailand. The bottom four teams have been eliminated. These are Don’t Break Dreams, Box Gaming, SEM9, and BN United. The most surprising out of these is Box Gaming, who were the Spring champions in the PMPL Vietnam and placed fourth in the fall split.

Based on the results of each week, the 20 teams were given Bonus Standings. The top 16 teams with the most Bonus Standings have advanced to the grand finals. Bonus Standings rankings are as follows:

PMGC spots is at stake in the grand finals

Teams are not just fighting for the bragging rights and the prize pool, there are also five spots in the PMGC 2022 up for grabs.  The PMGC will begin in November with its league stage. From here, the top teams will make it to the grand finals in January 2023 which will be a LAN event in Indonesia.

Out of the 16 teams in the grand finals, five have already qualified for the PMGC. These are The Infinity, Bacon Time, Geek Fam, 4Rivals, and D’Xavier. If any of these teams place in the top five, the PMGC spot will go to the next highest-placed teams.

Additionally, the grand finals will not begin with a clean slate for the teams. The Bonus Standings will carry over into the grand finals to offer a significant advantage to the teams who performed well in the league stage.
