Verdansk Returns in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

It has been almost a year since Verdansk disappeared from the face of Call of Duty: Warzone. Now, following a full reveal at the Call of Duty: NEXT showcase, it has been confirmed that the beloved map will be making a return to the Call of Duty: Warzone platform. However, it will be coming back in the form of Warzone Mobile, an all-new (kind of ) battle royale adventure heading to handheld devices everywhere, free of charge.

During a short trailer and a quick discussion at COD NEXT, it was revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will take place in Verdansk. It’ll feature the entire map from end-to-end, including all the classic points of interest we remember so well from the original launch, way back in March of 2020. But, as you can probably imagine, the entire map, mode, weapons, operators, and everything else will be very low-res, allowing for full accessibility across the board.

COD Warzone Mobile Brings Back Verdansk

As mobile gaming is becoming increasingly popular, it makes sense that a Warzone Mobile platform would be introduced. It’s surprising that it has taken almost three years for it to be released, though. Regardless, we can now confirm that COD Warzone Mobile is on the way, and it looks relatively okay, from what we’ve seen. Here’s the trailer, in case you’re interested in seeing a low-resolution version of Verdansk play out on your screen:

Now, we’re not knocking the fact that this is a mobile experience. Far from it, in fact – mobile gaming is on the up, boasting one of the largest reachable audiences in the history of the industry. It’s estimated there are some two billion mobile gamers in the world, and some of the world’s best mobile esports games draw in enormous audiences.

In recent years, we’ve seen many games go mobile, such as PUBG, Fortnite, and Apex Legends. There’s a mobile, on-the-go variant of most top-tier competitive titles, and in almost every case, they’re ‘shrunken down’ versions of the full title that they represent. With that in mind, it doesn’t matter if Warzone Mobile doesn’t look incredible – it’ll still offer a great mobile experience on a map that most Call of Duty: Warzone players know and love.

What Do We Know About Warzone Mobile?

Ultimately, that’s just it – that’s all we know about Warzone Mobile. If you’ve ever played Call of Duty: Warzone, you’ll fully understand and appreciate all of Warzone Mobile’s features from the get-go. It’s identical to the full game that launched in March 2020, from the loadouts and the economy system to the hot drops and contracts. There’s absolutely nothing ‘new’ in Warzone Mobile, aside from the fact it’s played on a device that fits in your pocket.

If we’re being honest, we can see an esports vertical opening up on Warzone Mobile. There’s a valid and valuable PUBG Mobile esports community, and it makes sense that Warzone Mobile would follow suit. For instance, at the next World Series of Warzone, poised to take place in 2023, we wouldn’t be surprised if there was a mobile category covered in some way. After all, some of the best COD Mobile players in the world will be eager to sink their competitive teeth into Warzone Mobile.

While some people might have thought that Call of Duty is dying recently, all this news regarding new games might just sway them into thinking the other way.
