I’ve been playing League of Legends (LoL) since it first came out of beta over 10 years ago. While the game differs from what it was back then, the core concept of League is still present: pick your champion and push the waves of minions to destroy the enemy base. In recent years, however, League has overhauled its experience for new players. The reason why? There are many mechanics and complexities to take in before feeling competent with the game.

One of the winning features mentioned in Wild Rift is its simplified and accessible mechanics.
For example, items will pop up when you have enough gold to buy them when you’re in a shop. It’s a small, but convenient mechanic that encourages new players to see what they can purchase and to spend.
The same applies to earning money. You can earn gold not only by killing minions but passively gain gold when near a dying minion. This makes the game less punishing if you miss that last hit.
These changes are minor, but they provide more accessibility and inclusion that reaches out toward a wider audience. This allows new players to get straight to enjoying playing a game versus getting lost in the game’s user experience, unsure of what they are doing in the game or are doing wrong.
