Spacestation Gaming and Fnatic make roster changes for VCT Stage 2

As the VALORANT Champions Tour moves along into Stage 2, more organizations are shaking up their rosters after middling results. Spacestation Gaming and Fnatic are two teams that had to make some of those tough decisions this past week.

As the window for international competition closes and teams repeatedly fail to qualify for those qualifiers, some teams have had to make the tough decision to exit VALORANT entirely. But, some roster moves are less gloomy as teams, like Spacestation Gaming and Fnatic, are looking to reload and reevaluate their players ahead of Challengers 2.

Spacestation Gaming drop VALORANT roster

The Utah-based organization let its VALORANT roster go on April 4, after the team failed to qualify for Challengers 1. This leaves Daniel “roca” Gustaferri, Kelden “Boostio” Pupello, Magno “Pr0phie” Ramos, David “DXN” Nguyen and Derrek “Derrek” Ha on the hunt for a new team.

Spacestation did not achieve much in their time in the VCT era or before. The team’s biggest achievements were in monthly or weekly tournaments and a deep run in First Strike qualification. Their most notable wins were against Cloud9 Blue, FaZe Clan and Luminosity Gaming. But, the team rarely matched up well against high tier competition.

However, VALORANT may not have lost the organization forever. In its statement, Spacestation Gaming said that it will still advocate for VALORANT and may come back in some shape or form in the future.

Fnatic bench Moe40 and tsack

The former SUMN FC team is looking for new blood after failing to qualify for the first European Challengers event of Stage 2. On April 2, Kostas “tsack” Theodoropoulos announced that he had been benched from the team. A day later, Muhammad “Moe40” Hariff announced the same.

I have been benched from the @FNATIC roster and am allowed to explore other options. I remain highly motivated and am confident in my ability to perform at the highest level. Contact me via DMs for extra information.

— FNATIC Moe (@Moe40) April 3, 2021

Moe40 has been with the team since its inception while tsack joined two months after SUMN FC was born. The two were a part of the team’s First Strike run where SUMN FC placed second to Team Hereitcs. Since then, under the Fnatic banner, they qualified for all three Challengers events from Stage 1 but they failed to make it to the Master tournament. The team was defeated by Wave Esports, FunPlus Phoenix and Ballista Esports in their attempts to qualify for Masters 1.

Both players are currently on the market and looking for opportunities.
