Twitch is undoubtedly the largest live streaming platform. It is home to thousands of streamers with a unique taste and a distinct following. 2020 has been a rocky year for all of us, but streamers with their indigenous style have kept us entertained. Unsurprisingly, female content creators like Pokimane and Valkyrae, among several others, have dominated the charts this year.
Several all-female Esports teams have also erupted in the last few years. So much so, that Cloud9 introduced an all-female competitive Valorant roster. This has prompted female gamers from around the world to take up streaming and has also generated a lot of anticipation in the community.
Before this year comes to an end, meet the top 3 female content creators and streamers who have been the driving reason behind the growth of the streaming industry.
Top 3 female streamers for 2020
Pokimane
Imane “Pokimane” Anys, without a doubt, is one of the finest streamers out there. 2020 was a pretty successful year for her and helped her channel grow leaps and bounds. The Canadian started her career by streaming titles like League of Legends and Fortnite. But her channel grew when she added Valorant to her list of games.
In October this year, she joined Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Disguised Toast, HasanAbi, and others for an Among Us session as part of the get-out-the-vote initiative for the recently concluded Presidential elections.
In over 1000 days of activity on Twitch, Pokimane has over 6.7 million followers and over 147 million total views and is the 6th most followed user on Twitch.
Sadly, Pokimane fell short of winning the streamer of the year award held by Esports awards this year. Canadian Game Awards too had nominated her for the Best Canadian Streamer, but again, she fell short.
Valkyrae
Currently a part of the 100 Thieves organization, Valkyrae has become an advocate for women in gaming and stands as the first female content creator for 100 Thieves.
Valkyrae gathered a following soon after she had vested her interest in gaming and content creation. There was just no stopping her after that. Moreover, the American video gamer left Twitch earlier this year to sign an exclusive contract with YouTube.

Valkyrae has become a heavyweight in the streaming industry and has won several awards for it too. She has been voted as ‘The Fastest Growing Live Streamer In The World’ & ‘The Biggest Female Gaming Streamer In The World’ by Ryan Wyatt.
A major surge in viewership came when she started streaming InnerSloth’s Among Us. The game had rolled out back in 2018 but was invigorated by several streamers this year. This was the beginning of a symbiotic relationship, causing exponential growth for both the title and many streamers other than Valkyrae.
