Esports continues to grow and the organizations behind traditional sports teams are seeing it as an interesting gamble that may turn out to be a smart investment. We already see this in Mexico, since Grupo Pachuca, the company behind Pachuca of Liga MX, announced that it will create an esports quarry together with Paris Saint-Germain, one of the sports teams with the greatest economic power in Europe.
As reported by the sports newspaper Récord, Pachuca announced that they want to have “the best basic forces of gamers in the country.” That is to say, they are looking for something similar to what they have managed to do with their football academy, from which talents such as Hirving Lozano (Napoli) and Héctor Herrera (Atlético de Madrid) have come out, who have reached important teams in European leagues.

As part of its esports project, Pachuca intends to develop different areas that will give its esports team more seriousness. For example, they plan to create a sports medicine area focused on competitive gaming. The intention is that, through the University of Soccer, professionals such as psychologists, physical trainers and physiotherapists can be trained to serve professional gamers.

To achieve this, Pachuca will have different courses for gamers at the Soccer University. They are also looking to build a gamer house. To do all this, they will have the advice of PSG, a French team that has already invested considerable resources in the competitive gaming scene. In case you don’t know, since 2016 the Parisian team has participated in League of Legends, FIFA and Brawl Stars competitions.
“For a year we started with the planning of the project, we looked for different teams that already had an eSports division to advise us and the first one that answered us was PSG,” said Marines.
