INDIANAPOLIS –
Butler University says it is partnering with Nerd Street Gamers, a national network of esports facilities and events, to host virtual esports winter camps.

The series of camps, which run from December 14 through January 8, intend to teach youth about the fundamentals of competitive gaming, map and game strategy, team dynamics, and effective communication skills.

The camps will virtually host gamers between the ages of 10 and 18 and focus on three of the more popular video games, Overwatch, Rocket League, and Fortnite.

The students will run games, drills, and matches throughout the duration of the week.

“In an ever-changing environment, we are proud to offer safe and competitive virtual opportunities for amateur gamers,” said Nerd Street Gamers Chief Executive Officer and founder John Fazio. “Our partnership with Butler University allows us to engage and connect aspiring players in an online esports camp, while fostering relationships with a prominent collegiate esports league.”

Butler co-hosted a similar camp during the summer.
