Live Media and Sportradar strengthen betting integrity partnership

Sportradar, the leading sports data provider, told Esports Insider that its collaboration with Live Media has been expanded to the legitimacy of the Dota 2 tournaments in Latin America for season 6, the Movistar Liga Pro Gaming.

With this addition, Sportradar will continue using its Fraud Detection System (FDS) to track the Liga Pro Gaming Season betting activity. Since the end of October, the sixth season of the Dota 2 competition will conclude with the Movistar Liga Pro Gaming Final Serial in December.

In order to assist in the detection of unethical behaviour, including game fixation and abuse of internal information, Sportradar shall continue to monitor any possible credibility threats in the Live Media.

“The ecosystem of teams, leaders and player[in Latin America] has grown because of the appearance of new competitions which attract publishers who are now centred on our area by investing in official leagues such as League of Legends, Dota 2, CSGO, and Luis Carrillo Pinto, Chairman of the Live Media Esports Entertainment Tournoi organisation Movistar Liga Pro Gaming. This has also prompted organisers of foreign tournaments to enter the area, which is generally good for the scene.

“The monitoring of Sportsradar bets to protect the integrity of our matches is essential in order to make our competition transparent,” added Pinto. “Latin America makes a daily professional sporting industry and we want our partners to rely on the highest possible quality and integrity standards, with specialised technology, to be used in every match of the Movistar Liga Pro Gaming.”

Sportradar gathers, processes and distributes knowledge about sports. The business has associations with brands such as the NFL and the National Basketball Association (NBA). The organisation has confirmed last year that the Overwatch League and the Call of Duty League are integrity regulated and have entered into a similar alliance with Activisión Blizzard—two francophones, geo-affiliated esports leagues.

Juan Matias Méndez, Business Development Manager at Sportradar, commented that the constant development of esports in Latin America and their fascinating future needs increased efforts to protect the integrity of competitions. “We are glad to continue to help the Movistar Liga Pro gaming tournament’s credibility in Live Media. This collaboration shows that in this area, the esports industry is serious about these matters and should be considered a model for others.”

Pinto said about Latin American esports: “I think mobile esports will expand a lot and sponsors will show a lot of interest. Media, marketing managers and the media have noticed that the website is mainstream and no longer a niche. It can build a broader audience than a soccer match. Esports in LatAm have reached this level.”
